About Lucy Penbrook
Lucy has been dreaming up mysteries since she was six years old - back when she devoured Nancy Drew books by flashlight and declared she’d be a writer someday. These days, she’s the author behind the Piper Page Cozy Mystery series, where strong female friendships, quirky small-town secrets, and a delightfully dramatic tuxedo cat named Jazz take center stage.
Lucy’s stories are known for being witty, heartfelt, and fun, with just the right balance of humor, intrigue, and coffee-fueled sleuthing. At the heart of every book is her favorite theme: women supporting women (and occasionally out-sleuthing the local detective).
When she’s not writing, Lucy is usually reading, baking something sweet “for research,” or watching college football with her husband and son. Her coffee is brewed at home - no fancy orders here - and always served with a splash of chobani vanilla creamer or her own homemade blend.
Jazz the cat was inspired by Lucy’s real-life feline, Lightening - “a total menace, but deeply lovable.” And if her fictional bookstore cafe, Books and Brew, feels like a place you want to visit, you can thank Blush Bookstore in Wichita, Kansas, one of her favorite real-life inspirations. Whether you’re here for the cozy crimes, the bookshop vibes, or the cat antics, Lucy’s glad you stopped by - and she hopes you’ll stay for the series.
Fun Facts About Me:
What I wanted to be when I grew up:
An author, always! I wrote my first “novel” in a spiral notebook after reading Nancy Drew. It was terrible. I loved it.
The author I’d most like to meet:
Nora Roberts. She’s a powerhouse of storytelling and somehow makes writing look both magical and manageable.
Favorite book:
That’s like picking a favorite baked good! But The Secret of the Old Clock started it all, so it holds a special place on my shelf.
Favorite non-writing hobby:
Baking! Bonus points if it involves chocolate, fall spices, or taste-testing with friends.
